Sadly Emma didn't survive an operation and 2 of her puppies died from Parvo leaving the lucky 4. All of the pups were hand reared. Vivi was one of the pups who had Parvo, it took lot of love and TLC to bring her through this however thankfully she has no lasting effects of the illness. Vivi is a little shy around new people however her confidence will build in her new home as she is slowly introduced to new things and new people. Vivi will need a patient adopter who can take things at her pace, and not push her out of her comfort zone or rush her to acclimatise to new things, situations and environments. She has had a very sheltered life, and being hand reared does lack some social skills other dogs take for granted. Vivi is similar to her brother Blacky (who she shares a kennel space with) and tends to be pretty bossy with the other dogs. With her brother, he is the boss so Vivi misses out sometimes on toys and treats. We hope that there is a perfect home out there, one with experience of a dog like Vivi, who has lived her entire life in a shelter environment. She can be possessive with food around other dogs, therefore her adopters need to have experience of owning a similar dog and being able to demonstrate appropriate methods for teaching boundaries and basic commands. Strictly no alpha dominance required here. Vivi could be rehomed with another dog, who is very calm and has no issues around sharing food and toys. With another dog there would need to be plentiful indoor and outdoor space for each dog to not be overwhelmed as they take time to adjust to each other.
Alternatively Vivi could adapt to being an only dog with someone who is around for a large part of the day to offer supervision, playtime and exercises to keep her mind occupied each day. Think of Vivi as a blank canvass, ready to be shaped into the ideal dog. Her required training should help with this, however she may need further work over and above this so her adopters should be fully aware and able to offer this should he need it. We are sure that Vivi will settle well into a home environment with a little time and guidance -she will require work on toilet training and also walking on a harness and lead. We do not anticipate this causing any issues as Vivi is very intelligent and always aims to please.
