volunteer
Our rescue is entirely volunteer run, we all fit in the rescue work with our busy everyday lives: working full time, part time, families and our own dogs. If you would like to become involved as a volunteer we have many ways you can help.
The main area we need help in is with our homechecks. Each and every potential adopter will receive a homecheck to ensure that the home and environment is suitable for the chosen dog. Everyone who helps with this will receive as much support, training and guidance as possible to ensure that every aspect of the homecheck form is completed fully, accurately and with the best interests of the dog in mind. We are hoping to build up home checkers in most if not all areas of Scotland and wherever we can also into other parts of the UK to ensure we can have as many options available when rehoming the dogs and cats in our care. As a volunteer we do not expect you to drive hundreds of miles, instead we will be looking for people to volunteer locally within a travel area they are comfortable with. As a volunteer you can chose how often you wish to help however we cannot guarantee when a homecheck will need done within any given area. We will have a specific facebook page to add all volunteers for this purpose and will tag you in any local checks - at this time we are unable to organise with anyone not currently on Facebook. Please note we currently have sufficient homecheck coverage for Edinburgh and the immediate surrounds.
We will also be collecting donations of items to go over to Romania - again hoping to have people in lots of areas who can collect and hopefully also store until we can arrange items to be uplifted. Animal Rescue Crew will need assistance with cross posting the dogs available for adoption onto lots of facebook sites. Also without funds we would not be able to help as many dogs in Constanta - a permanent shelter is to be built now that private land has been purchased. There will be lots of materials required, kennels, and ongoing costs with the maintenance of the site and care of the dogs. We will be setting up a designated fundraising group who will help with ideas to raise funds and ultimately take the ideas forward. If you would like to become involved in any way please get in touch using either the volunteer form or contact form and we will contact you. If you would like to find out more then please complete our volunteer application. |
"I rescued my dog Ben 1 year ago today from ARC. I had never owned a dog before but I knew I was ready and had a lot of love to give to a wee pooch. ARC made sure I was fully prepared and equipped to ensure I would be the right owner for a wee dog." |
Primarily we will not bring dogs over to foster, instead they go direct to their adopters, however when funds allow we will occasionally bring a dog or two who perhaps need introduced to a home environment before they find their homes. We also offer rescue back up to each and every dog and cat who come through our rescue. This means that if an adopters circumstances change and they can no longer keep their adopted dog or cat, they return to our care.
We will require foster homes in these circumstances. In return for opening your home and heart to one of our furry friends we in return can offer full support until your cat or dog finds his/her ideal forever home. We cover food, toy, and vet expenses until rehomed. All we ask is that you offer routine, boundaries and some basic training along with love and care. No small task. |
